As part of an O.P.M North American concert series, M Studio presents Kitchie Nadal returns to Toronto at the Gateway Centre in Mississauga, ON. She’s joined by local talents such as Sudden Changez, Sonant Alchemy, Kuya’z Fault, Order of the Primates, May Day and Ivy Rose, special guest band from Washington D.C.

It was a cold January evening but not cold enough to keep the people from coming to rock out at the Gateway centre. The evening was started by a Christian rock group which unfortunately I was not able to get their name. They were followed by Sudden Changez which according to their Facebook fan page, “they’re just 4 teens growing doing what they love best, this includes playing instruments, singing and performing”. Their performance had some technical difficulties initially, their performance was so high energy that a fuse blew up and the sound system got affected. This was rectified easily after a short break. They were followed by Sonant Alchemy with lead vocalist, Jeanette Ricasio. Kuya’z fault followed right after, as per the band, their main vocalist was away on vacation in the Philippines and they had a guest that evening. Order of the Primates followed right after. OTP surprised the crowd by doing a cover of Kamikazee’s Narda followed by a cover of Black-eyed Peas’ Bebot (encore request from the crowd). The band May Day followed OTP. As per the May Day’s My Space page, “May Day is a multi-genre band that showcases a variety of musical influences ranging from classic rock to pop to punk rock to metal”. Guest band from Washington DC, Ivy Rose followed. As per Ivy Rose’s website (www.ivyrosemusic.com), “Ivy Rose is embarking upon a great journey to share their music with the world, one day at a time.” I like that. Exceptional performance from these ladies plus they have an awesome drummer.

The stage was set for Kitchie Nadal’s return to Toronto. She was last here back in August 2005. She performed songs from her latest album “Love Letter” and also songs from her debut album. There was a point in her performance where she asked some of the crowd to come up on stage to dance with her. Also, when she performed her hit song “Huwag Mong Sasabihin”, she was joined by the ladies from the different bands that performed that evening. Special shout-out to Tamika from Order of the Primates, great job! For video clips from this event, check out Kitchie Nadal’s website, http://www.kitchienadal.net .

In general, it was an evening of great music brought together courtesy of M Studio. To quote a local musician, Mr. Neil Huab, “M Studio is the place to be. A place where artists converge …”

These are shots taken from the recent event, thanks to M Studio, particularly Deo, Anjo and Filbert for allowing me to document that evening’s entertainment. Please tag accordingly. Thanks!
