Kitchie Nadal, today’s undisputed Princess of Pop Rock, continues to blaze a trail in the local music industry in 2006 via release of the new single, “Fire.”
The track is still off the Double Platinum eponymous debut CD under 12 Stone Records and Warner Music Philippines.
A song dear to Kitchie as it talks about “people who inspired me to grow spiritually and other real issues of the world,” “Fire” comes in the heels of five critically and commercially mammoth singles that made 2005 Kitchie Nadal Year in terms of OPM history.
These were “Run,” “Bulong,” “Same Ground,” “Pagsubok” and her signature hit “Wag Na Wag Mong Sasabihin” that topped the charts everywhere and endeared Kitchie to almost all music lovers across age and income bracket.
“Wag Na Wag” became so big that it later claimed a ton of citations from various award giving bodies including the Awit Awards (Female Artist of the Year, Best Ballad), Aliw Awards (Most Promising Female Artist, Best Live Performance by a Female Artist), MTV Pilipinas (Chart Attack People’s Choice Awards) and Nickelodeon (Kids Choice Awards), RX 93 Female Artist of the Year 2005 to name a few.
The song also led to endorsement deals with McDonald’s, Mossimo, Ellipse Cologne and Sketchers for Kitchie.
Kitchie is the epitome of rock n roll dreams coming true. When she parted ways with Mojofly in 2003 after being lead vocalist to the band for several years, many thought that was the last time they’d hear of her—- including Kitchie herself who then just wanted to continue her studies.
But believing in her above par songwriting skills and sincere desire to share her music to people were her managers Tommy Tanchanco and Roca Cruz. After several heart-to-heart talks, the two finally convinced Kitchie to continue recording as a solo artist and continue her studies at the same time. She’s now a double degree major in Education and Psychology at De La Salle University.
The result is “Kitchie Nadal,” the groundbreaking independently produced solo album under 12 Stone Records that not only stunned the music industry with its achievements but even spurned several wanna-be’s in its wake.
Today no one can ever say that Kitchie Nadal has not become one of the industries hottest commodities. The girl, in fact, is on ‘Fire.’
